Information We Collect
We collect two kinds of information through the Site.
Information you give us
When you complete our contact form or email us, we collect the information you choose to provide, which typically includes your name, your email address, your telephone number, and the contents of your message. You decide what to send us. Please do not include sensitive details about a legal matter in an initial message, because sending us a message does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, limited technical information is collected through cookies and similar technologies, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your visits. We use this information, through Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site. As described below, these analytics technologies load only after you consent through our cookie banner.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to respond to your questions and requests, to evaluate potential legal matters, to communicate with you, to operate and improve the Site, to keep the Site secure, and to meet our legal and professional obligations as a law firm.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. We use two categories of cookies.
Essential cookies
These are necessary for the Site to function and to remember your privacy choices. They are always active and cannot be switched off.
Analytics cookies
These are set by Google Analytics to measure how visitors use the Site. They do not load when you first arrive. They load only if you select “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you select “Reject,” or if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, these cookies are not set and no analytics data is collected. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer of the Site.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Site and the firm, and only as needed for those purposes. These include our website host, our email provider that delivers your form submissions to us, and Google Analytics for Site measurement when you have consented. We may also disclose information if required by law, by court order, or by our professional and ethical obligations.
Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”), gives you the following rights:
- The right to know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it.
- The right to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- The right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of these rights.
Global Privacy Control
Our Site recognizes the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or a browser extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information, and we do not load analytics cookies for your visit.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of the rights described above, contact us by email at info@paluskalaw.com or by telephone at 503.585.2066. We will verify your request by confirming information we already hold about you, and we will respond within the time the law allows. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy, and for as long as our legal and professional obligations as a law firm require. When we no longer need it, we delete it or render it unreadable.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send us confidential information about a legal matter through the Site until we have agreed in writing to represent you.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and for business and real estate clients. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under sixteen. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Links to Other Sites
The Site may link to other websites, including Paluska Real Estate and Paluska Property Management, and to third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
No Attorney-Client Relationship
Contacting us through the Site, whether by form or by email, does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship is formed only after we have checked for conflicts of interest and both you and Paluska Law have signed a written engagement agreement. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information until that relationship exists.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after we post changes means you accept the updated Policy.
